Amesbury
Rocky Hill Meeting House
To this day is the least altered of any 18th Century country-meeting house in Massachusetts.Maintained by Historic New England, this site was part of our first Summer Institute on "Governing". Could be a fabulous place to hold a "mock" town meeting.

Andover Historical Society
Collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets documents and artifacts reflecting the life of Andover and its people from the 17th century to the present This site was a host for one of our workshops during the first set of sessions.
Beverly
Balch House
At more than 350 years old, the Balch House is considered to be one of the oldest standing timber-framed houses in America.
Hale Farm
Built in 1695, the farm was home to many generations of the Hale family.
Cabot House/Beverly Historical Society
One of the first brick structures built in Beverly; it was home to the Cabot family
from 1781-1802. This building was also used as an early bank. We have held many workshops here.

Danvers
Danvers Historical Society
Dianvers Historical Society owns a number of significant artifacts including many native American items. It was the site of one of our Peopling Summer Institute workshops.
Gloucester
Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center
The Center celebrates Gloucester's historic relationship with the sea. Here you can watch a boatbuilder shape a traditional wooden dory, handle seastars and sea urchins in our touch tanks, sound a vintage foghorn, and learn about life aboard a schooner 100 years ago. A workshop for our Working Summer Institute focused on the fishing industry
Sargent House Museum
Once the home of sea merchants, American patriots and religious and community leaders, the home is a fine example of Georgian architecture built in 1782. It was the home of Judith Sargent Murray and a workshop was held here with a focus on separation of church and state.
Cape Ann Historical Museum
This museum exhibits the largest collection of paintings and drawings by Fitz Henry (Hugh) Lane - the Gloucester native is recognized as one of America's most important 19th Century artists. We have held several workshops here.
Haverhill
Buttonwoods Museum/Haverhill Historical Society
Exhibiting Native American artifacts such as stone tools, bone implements, baskets, shoes and shoemaking tools, the historical society and museum also provides valuable information on Haverhill and the surrounding area.
Ipswich
Ipswich Museum and Historical Society
The museum is anchored by two significant properties: the 1677 Whipple House and the 1800 Heard House, which serves as their headquarters. Both properties are filled with original architectural detail, furnishings, and artifacts that give visitors an intimate glimpse into the lives of early Ipswich residents
Whipple House
Retains much of its original oak, pine and chestnut framework and offers an exceptional look at the domestic surroundings of early New England colonists.
Lawrence
Lawrence Heritage State Park
The park includes 23 acres spread throughout the city and provides visitors with information on Lawrence and the surrounding area and exhibits.Host to two of our "Working" seminars, this site is an ideal Essex County equivalent to the Lowell mill experience.
Lawrence History Center
Established in 1978 to preserve the history of Lawrence and its people, it is the official repository for all Lawrence city records. LINCs has used records, photos and maps from this site in our lessons..
Lynn
Lynn Museum
Exhibiting furniture, artwork and everyday objects of the 1770's through the 1870's.
Lynn Heritage State Park
Provides information about Lynn, with exhibits including innovative audio-visual programs and historic artifacts.
Marblehead
Marblehead Museum and Historical Society
Built in 1768 by merchant Jeremiah Lee, the museum also exhibits American decorative arts and the work of painter J.O.J. Frost. In our first summer institute, we met here to discuss early American documents relating to the Revolutionary War.
Fort Sewall
First established in 1644, this fort was used as a defensive breastwork for more than 200 years. Now a public park.
Newbury
Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm
Built at the end of the 17th Century, today the house reveals three centuries of construction technologies and building stabilization.
North Andover
North Andover Historical Society
The society's mission includes preserving local heritage and bringing it to life through children’s programs, guided tours, lectures, workshops, craft demonstrations, exhibits, architectural walking tours and publications. The society's holdings include the Stevens Memorial Building, Johnson Cottage and the Parson Barnard House. They have graciously allowed us to use some of their primary source materials in our lessons.
Peabody
Peabody Historical Society
Headquartered at the General Gideon Foster House on Washington Street, the Society also manages the Nathaniel Felton Sr. House, the Nathaniel Felton Jr. House, the Orchard House, the Apple Barn, and the Engine 3 Firehouse (the Peabody Historical Fire Museum.)
George Peabody House Civic Center
Childhood home of philanthropist George Peabody, the Civic Center provides information about Peabody and its role in the leather industry.
Salem
The Corwin House
The only house still standing in Salem with direct ties to the Witch Trails of 1692.
Peabody-Essex Museum
A museum of international art and culture, the PEM is America's oldest continually operated museum.
Derby Street Historic District
An area of Salem prominent in foreign commerce during the late 1700's and early 1800's.
McIntire Historic District
Features a walking tour that takes visitors past several of architect Samuel McIntire's significant houses.
Salem Maritime National Historic Site
This was the first National Historic Site in the National Park System and it preserves and interprets the maritime history of New England and the U.S.
